Here's a lovely story of animal behavior from Johannesburg.

This gray pigeon arrived in Evelyn's garden some Months ago along with three others. When the others flew away it became clear this fellow couldn't fly. Evelyn put the bird cage in the garden to provide shelter for him. He seems happy living in this cage.

It seems this bird was injured by an electric fence, and has no use of his wings.

His mate however, the white bird in this picture, came back the next day to visit her husband. And every day after that, flying away at night, and returning every morning.

both seem quite comfortable with this arrangement.

His mate goes up into the feed tray, which is is obviously unable to reach. She pushes food off the edge for him to eat. feed.jpg
